An e-commerce platform that sells experiences from wine tours to skydiving, Redballoon needed an extra set of hands to solve a number of design initiatives. These initiatives were to optimise the search function, product listing page, product display page, and checkout page for Redballoon's web app (with one initiative adjusted for web desktop).
Prior to this engagement, Redballoon already had a list of initiatives based on assumptions cultivated from data. My first task was to validate these assumptions through user research and analytics, while 'T-shirt sizing' what initiatives I can accomplish in my 6-week engagement. Because of time, cost and resourcing; it was important that I chose initiatives that would have the least amount of impact on the back-end engineering. So this project was a huge lesson in limitations of what design impacts can make from a 'cosmetic' lense.
This case study looks at each initiative I deemed were 'in-scope' and how, through design, testing and iteration, I was able to solve these initiatives.
